I’m outnumbered in my house, and with two three boys (aged 22 months, 3 1/2 years, and, you know, 29 years) residing with me, they start to take over the home decor:

A large LEGO head resides on the top of our bookcase along with vintage cameras:

Our coffee table is perfectly set with trains along the “track”:

Of course, we like to be coordinated, so the train theme continues to our end table:

The throw pillows in our chair are complimented by Mr. Bear and a Bilibo:

C-3PO hangs out in our bookshelf in case he feels like reading a little To Kill a Mockingbird:

And Hobbes (sculpted by my husband in a college art class) hangs out with a complete collection of, you guessed it, Calvin and Hobbes:

Don’t worry, though. I managed to get some Valentine’s decor in this year. So girly, right?

Ahem… bet you didn’t know there were LEGO Valentine kits!

I never would have guessed how much I could grow to love boys’ way of decorating, but I wouldn’t change a thing. :)

Except maybe the dinosaurs in the middle of the kitchen that I stepped on. Barefoot.

Ouch on the dinosaurs! I remember it well – my son loved them!

  • Virginia from That Bald Chick February 9, 2011 at 12:08 am

    Love that large lego head!

  • Shop with Me Mama February 9, 2011 at 2:05 am

What an adorable post!! I would not change my kids “decorating” either, LOL! And where did you get that lego head? My son went crazy when he saw it!!

    • Christi February 9, 2011 at 9:50 am

We got it at WalMart – I don’t know if they still carry it, but they had a TON of LEGO stuff in November & December. It has grates that help sort bricks by size, too. We love it!

  • JDaniel4's Mom February 9, 2011 at 6:57 am

Having a little boy in the house changed my decor too. Great post.

  • Kathryn February 9, 2011 at 7:37 am

My house looks just like this! haha! I have 3 sons (and a boyish husband!) who like to decorate with lego structures and train tracks. :)

    • Christi February 9, 2011 at 9:50 am

So you know exactly what I’m talking about! I’ve grown quite partial to Legos and trains. :)

  • Michelle February 9, 2011 at 8:57 am

Love your decor! Of course, that could be since I am quite partial to all 3 boys and one awesome girl!

  • Marianna @ Green Mama's Pad February 9, 2011 at 9:17 am

LOL! I live with 5 boys so I know hot that goes.

    • Christi February 9, 2011 at 9:52 am

Wow, 5 boys! I somehow have a feeling that if we ever have a third child we’ll have another boy. Before having kids I always wanted a girl but now I feel like I’m meant to be a mom to boys!

  • Leena February 9, 2011 at 10:05 am

Bahaha! Can totally relate. I always step on Hot Wheels in the middle of the night. Not only do those hurt, they can send you flying!

p.s. What’s the big Lego head? A bucket?

  • Pam February 9, 2011 at 10:07 am

It is funny how we adapt. I am with you about the dinosaurs on the floor. OUCH!

  • Crystal @ Simply Being Mommy February 9, 2011 at 11:07 am

Sometimes kids do need a little decorating help ;)

  • Casey February 9, 2011 at 11:25 am

Hehe, I love this post! My favorite is of course C-3PO kicking it! I’m sorry for you feet as well!

  • nicóle (be your own star mantra cuff) February 9, 2011 at 12:09 pm

I know exactly what you mean! As a mother of two boys myself my pretty girl things often time get mixed up in all things boy!

  • Lorie Shewbridge February 9, 2011 at 12:13 pm

That reminds SO much of what my house looked like when my boys were growing up.
Man those Legos and dinosaurs sure do hurt your feet, don’t they?
You’ve got a great collection of books… including that complete collection of Calvin and Hobbes. My youngest wanted that one year for Christmas and told me that it was the BEST gift he ever got! Memories…. thanks.

  • blueviolet @ A Nut in a Nutshell February 9, 2011 at 12:15 pm

    If I were you, I wouldn’t either!

  • Kasandria February 9, 2011 at 12:19 pm

I’d keep everything exactly the same. :)
    Happy WW!
    Kas

  • Dee February 9, 2011 at 12:49 pm

  • Penelope February 9, 2011 at 2:08 pm

    lol at the Lego head

  • Henrietta February 9, 2011 at 2:36 pm

Ooh those plastic dinosaurs do hurt btu nowhere near as much as the legos do in the middle of the night! I like your decor!

  • Rachel February 9, 2011 at 3:19 pm

LOVE the processing on these pics!

  • Katie February 9, 2011 at 7:00 pm

you need some pink in there :)

  • Callie February 11, 2011 at 9:21 am

Love these photos–what made them look so sepiad?

I found your blog through the Friday blog hop at Thank’s Mail Carrier.

  • Tammy February 11, 2011 at 9:28 pm

My ‘kids’ are in their teens (and their 40’s!) – and my place still looks like that!

    • Christi February 11, 2011 at 9:53 pm

Haha! Thanks for the glimpse into my future. :)
