Hi! I’m Christi, the blogger & owner of Frugal Novice. I’m 33 and based in Texas, where I’ve lived my whole life. I’m a magazine designer first and foremost, but I love blogging, too. I started this blog back in February 2010 and am thrilled to see how it has grown.
I have a bachelor’s degree in Advertising & PR, a minor in graphic design, and master’s degree in communication. These skills have all come together to make blogging something I absolutely love.
I’m married to my high school sweetheart & best friend, Brian.
Brian is a talented graphic designer, Lego enthusiast (to put it mildly), gamer, geek through and through, and amazing dad to our two boys and our daughter.
J is 7 years old and cracks us up daily. He’s definitely the older child with a type A personality to match, with a major silly streak.
C is 6. He’s our resident foodie. He is a snuggly kid who almost always has his beloved blankie in tow. He’s generous to a fault and loves to be a helper.
E is 2, and is the little sister, who’s got quite a personality of her own. She loves baby dolls – and Legos, too (so her big brothers better watch out!). She’s sweet and serious, but has a grin that can light up the room.
So, there you have us. We’re a tight-knit family with faith at our core. We’re homebodies, but love hosting friends and family for dinners, movies or game nights. We’re not always conventional, especially for west Texas, but we’re happy where we’re at and really feel like we’ve found our place.
When I first started this blog, I planned to chronicle my attempts to live more frugally. I quickly decided it’s a lot more fun to write about everything I love, so you’ll find a mix of topics here, from food and recipes (I love to cook and bake) to crafts, activities, printables and more. I am PR friendly and have worked with quite a few companies both on my blog and through my social media channels.

Hi Christi. Love the pics. You boys are adorable. I lived in the house with 3 men. My only other female in our house was and still is the dog. Although, I now have 3 grand daughters. Love the dogs. We have a black and tan miniature dachshund that is 6 1/2 yrs old and a large white dog. At our house the wiener dog is the alfa dog. I also have photos at pattyodomphotography.weebly.com. I am in Holle’s 365 pics challenge. I think this will be fun.
