Free Fourth of July Printable

I love to decorate for all the various holidays, and with Fourth of July right around the corner that means a lot of red, white, & blue.

One of my favorite low-cost methods of decorating is by displaying framed printables. Just buy some inexpensive frames (it’s especially fun to go thrifting or antiquing to find unique options) and paint them to fit with your aesthetic; then it’s so easy to swap out art as the various holidays roll around!

I love the idea of layering frames with different printables along a mantle or tabletop – you can easily achieve pops of color, and you can find all sorts of great quotes on Pinterest. Of course, since I’m a graphic designer I like to create my own printables so I can achieve the look – and convey the thoughts – that really fit our family.

I created a new Fourth of July printable recently and I’m sharing it with you today so you can add it to your patriotic decor. Just click here to start your free PDF download. This is sized for an 8×10 frame, but you can print it smaller for 5×7 if you prefer.

Enjoy, and Happy 4th!

Oriental Trading Makes Class Parties Easy & Fun!

Note: We received items from Oriental Trading to facilitate our post. We were not compensated monetarily for this post. All opinions are honest and my own.

We love Oriental Trading. It’s my go-to for party favors and decor when the kids’ birthdays roll around, but it’s also great for class parties, too. I love how affordable their items are, which makes it easy to purchase in bulk for 22 kids in a class.

This year I’m room mom for both my boys’ classes, and coordinating their Christmas parties was a part of my duties. I sent out notes to all the parents for contributing snacks and drinks, but all I had to do to cover the crafts, plates, and napkins was make a quick visit to The hardest part was deciding between all the craft options – they have a ton!

I ended up choosing a snowman craft and a button wreath craft. The kids loved it, and I heard parents complimenting them, too.

One tip: a lot of crafts require glue, which can be messy and take time to dry. I went to the local craft store and purchased a roll of glue dots, which made it really quick and easy to complete the projects. Aren’t they so cute? We have ours hanging on our tree!

For the plates and napkins, I went classic with Santa & Rudolph; can’t really go wrong with that! They made for a cheery & festive atmosphere at the party.

No matter what kind of party you’re planning for, Oriental Trading provides a wide variety of options to choose from. It makes purchasing party supplies an affordable and easy experience! For the next class parties I’ll be making a visit to Oriental Trading again, for sure.

Hasbro Stocking Stuffers Fun For All

Note: We received a variety of Hasbro toys to facilitate this post. I was not compensated monetarily for this post. All opinions are honest and are my own.

When it comes to stockings, I like to fill them with things I know my kids will play with for a long time. It’s easy to be tempted by all the knick knacks that fill the aisles at Christmastime, but I think we all know those end up breaking or being discarded within a week or two after the holidays.

Hasbro has a ton of toys and games; I know we’ve already got many Hasbro items in our house. But did you know they have a lot of stocking stuffer options perfect for your kids?

Since the kids don’t read my blog yet (I’m sure one day they totally will) I can share with you some of what they’ll be getting in their stockings.

J, our 7-year-old, will be getting a Transformer from the new Age of Extension Transformers movie – it can convert from a great robot action figure into a vehicle in just one step, which is great and frustration-free! These retail for $9.99 each. He’ll also be getting Star Wars Rebels action figures, which he’ll be thrilled about because he loves that show!  These also retail for $9.99 each. He’ll love playing with both of these toys for a long time to come!

C, our 5-year old, will be getting a Transformers Rescue Bots set – it comes with a robot and a female character from the show. I love the idea of him having a great female action figure to play with! These retail for $6.99. He’ll also be getting the classic game Barrel of Monkeys. I loved playing this growing up, so it’s fun to pass it along for our kids to play too! I can imagine there will be a lot of creative play with the monkeys, too. This game retails for $4.99.

The boys will love playing with this Marvel Battle Masters Challengers toy, too – we got Captain America but there’s also Spider-Man, Wolverine and Thor to pick from. These retail for $14.99 each.

Hasbro also makes wonderful stocking stuffers for girls, too, like these:

The Littlest Pet Shop animals are just $2.99 each and are adorable fun! There are 24 pets to collect. And the My Little Pony POP starter kit lets kids pop out and build any of four My Little Pony Pop characters; they can personalize each pony with pop-on manes and stickers. These retail for just $3.99 each, making them a really affordable choice!

Hope these ideas help you with all your last-minute stocking shopping! Happy holidays, everyone!

Make Gifts Extra-Special With DIY Customized Ribbon!

Note: We received the Epson LabelWorks Printable Ribbon Kit to facilitate this review. We were not compensated monetarily for this post. All opinions are honest and are our own.

With the holidays rapidly approaching, I’ve wrapped more presents than I can count on two hands. I’m admittedly not the best at wrapping gifts, but I love picking out paper and ribbon to make gifts look special.

This year I’ve learned about a way to make gifts customized with the Epson LabelWorks Printable Ribbon Kit.

You can print personalized satin ribbons for crafts, scrapbooks, decorations, gifts and more. You can have birthday party favors that have their very own name on them. You can even get creative and brighten up your own homemade crafts.

You can customize your ribbons using a wide variety of fonts, symbols and frames, and up to 30 of your favorite ribbon designs can be stored and used again.

The printer is really easy to use – I have to confess that I didn’t read any of the instructions for loading the ribbon or for creating  my first design.

There are tons of cute icons for all sorts of occasions, including the various holidays. I made a ribbon for each of the boys’ teachers that had their names and snowflakes on it – so cute!

I made some ribbons for my mom’s coworkers, too – the quality is really nice and truly adds a perfect finishing touch to gifts.

If you’re a crafter, or if you just want to have an easy way to customize gifts, you’ll definitely want to get the Epson LabelWorks Printable Ribbon Kit!

Get Your Bathroom Holiday-Ready with Charmin

Note: I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Charmin. I received product samples and a promotional item to thank me for my participation.

We love to have friends and family over, especially during the holiday season. And I love to decorate for Christmas, which you can easily see as soon as you walk in our front door. Getting the house ready for holiday entertaining is always a lot of fun for me, but in the past I’ve accidentally neglected a pretty important room – the bathroom!

Thankfully now I’ve gotten a handle on making our guest bathroom a welcoming spot for guests:

I mentioned in the video that I like to switch out our hand towel for one with a holiday influence – I also use a fun soap dispenser (my mom got us an adorable snowman that the kids love), I light a candle (bonus points for a cinnamon or peppermint scent) and I’ll even take surplus Christmas decor from elsewhere in the house to use in the bathroom. The Christmas tree seen at the end of the video used to be our tree topper, and now it’s a great accent piece on our bathroom counter.

Not only do I want our bathroom to look cute and festive, I want it to be a functional space that can get plenty of use without us having to worry about a clogged toilet in the middle of a party, so we use Charmin.

Did you know?

  • Consumers who buy Charmin ensure their plumbing will stay clog-free even during the busiest of times, such as the holiday season.
  • Charmin and Roto-Rooter, America’s largest provider of plumbing & drain services, have teamed up again this year to remind consumers of the clog-free and septic-safe guarantee that only comes with Charmin. Roto- Rooter plumbers recommend Charmin more than any other brand.
  • Not only does Charmin have Roto-Rooter’s stamp of approval to be clogfree and septic-safe, but it is also used by plumbers more than any other brand.

Charmin is one of those unsung party heroes – when it works well like it does, people don’t think to talk about it. But let me tell you, if you’re that house that has a clogged or overflowing toilet, you’ll be wishing you’d used Charmin instead.

Just enter PIOC82 at checkout and you’ll be good to go!

Don’t forget, though, that this code is only good from Nov.27-30, so don’t miss out on the savings!

#GiveHappy with OshKosh this Holiday Season

Note: I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for OshKosh B’gosh. I received product samples to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.

love this time of year. Christmas, and the weeks approaching it, are just such happy times for me and my family, and I adore all the memories we make and traditions we uphold.

One thing we really try to instill in the kids this time of year is a sense of giving, because it can easily turn into a focus on receiving. Last year we started a tradition of doing random acts of kindness on Christmas Eve. It was SO much fun for the kids, and they learned how happy it made them to give to others. It’s great when you see your kids starting to understand that they can spread happiness to others with their actions.

OshKosh is all about giving happy, which makes sense since they’re pretty good at it! When we were trying to figure out what the kids should wear for Christmas pictures this year, OshKosh was my go-to choice for finding pieces that would be perfect.

I got the boys matching navy & white henley tops with a green long-sleeved tee to wear underneath, and each of them got a new pair of dark wash jeans, too.

E got an adorable cardigan (so adorable that I really want one in my size!) that’s navy with white polka dots and pink trim, plus a great pair of jeans that are lined with pink fleece. Cozy and cute! Won’t those outfits look great together for a photo? We wanted something casual with pops of color, and these clothes from OshKosh were just the answer.

We love doing Christmas pictures for our cards, of course, but the photos are also a great way to give happy to the grandparents. When we asked Brian’s mom what she wanted for Christmas, for example, her response was “pictures!”

I really did have a hard time picking out clothes from OshKosh, only because I loved so many different things that it was hard to narrow down my choices! Check out some of the other great looks available right now and you’ll see what I mean:

Find your closest store location here or you can always shop online!

I hope you’ll embrace the idea to give happy this holiday season. #GiveHappy by giving things like:

  • Hugs
  • Smiles
  • Cookies
  • Praise
  • Parties
  • Fun
  • Time
  • Love
  • Laughs

Because giving happiness is really the best gift of all!

I do have one last thing to give you in this post – a great coupon for 25% off your purchase of $30 or more! Happy shopping, and don’t forget to give happy!

Holiday Traditions with Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments – #KeepsakeIt

Note: We received four Hallmark ornaments to review. We were not compensated monetarily for this post, and as you can see from our collection, we truly love Hallmark Keepsake ornaments! All opinions are honest and our own.

Brian and I got married in October of 2003, and one of our very first traditions we established as a married couple was picking out a Hallmark Keepsake Ornament. We picked out a little birdhouse with art supplies – so cute, right?

Over the years we’ve always picked out an ornament as a couple. We always talk and pick one we like best, and we have quite a varied collection now. One of my favorite things each holiday season is pulling down our tub of ornaments and looking  through our collection, talking about memories of picking various ornaments.

Of course, once we started having children we included them in the tradition, too. Our plan is for each of our children to take their ornament collection when they’re grown and have them to place on their own family’s tree. The kids have a blast picking out ornaments that represent their interests each year, and I’m still very sentimental when I see their first year ornaments! Here’s J with his collection:

I love seeing ornaments like the Thomas the Train one from several years ago. Thomas occupied a big part of our entertainment for several years, and even though the kids have moved past that now the ornament will always be a reminder of that phase of J’s childhood.

Here’s C’s collection:

It’s fun to see how different their interests are, and we love seeing that shine through in their ornament selection. C loves baking so several of his ornaments (including – spoiler alert – this year’s!) focus on that, as you can see in the cookie cutter ornament and the candy/cookie train.

E, of course, is just two so her collection is pretty small:

I love seeing their faces as they look through their ornaments and talk about why they like certain ones best. It’s a tradition we plan to keep, and as our collections grow it will be more and more fun talking about memories with each ornament. Speaking of memories, be sure and check out Hallmark’s #KeepsakeIt sweepstakes! Just post the moments you want to keepsake on Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #KeepsakeIt, or upload them hereYou could win weekly prizes, or a grand prize of Keepsake Ornaments and $3,000 toward a family vacation to make more memories!

Of course, with Christmas right around the corner it’s about time for us to be thinking about ornaments again, so we went ahead and made our selections – I love what we picked!

Brian and I picked the Charlie Brown & kite ornament. We love the charm of Charlie brown looking like he’s stuck in the Christmas tree, and we both have fond memories of Charlie Brown from childhood. For E we picked a Mickey and Minnie Mouse ornament, because that little girl loves Mickey Mouse right now. I’m sure you can guess which ornament is C’s – the cake pops! He has decided we need to make real cake pops to go along with his ornament. And J picked out a Phineas & Ferb ornament,  which is great because our whole family actually likes to sit down and watch that together. One tip – each year I write initials on the back of the ornament boxes so it’s easy to sort them out. The boys each have a fire truck ornament, for example, so this helps make decorating nice and easy.

And don’t the ornaments look great on the tree?

We actually even got an ornament for the dogs, because C saw one in the store that he said was just perfect. We’ll print out their photo to customize it – our dogs are an important part of our family, so it’s only fitting that they get an ornament too!

I love the Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments because there are some for virtually every interest, and they’re SO well-made. Brian still has many of his from childhood, including these Star Trek ornaments from almost 20 years ago:

Be sure and go purchase your ornaments soon – believe me, people get started buying them early. Some years we’ve waited too late and have had a hard time tracking down the ones we really want! You can find a local Hallmark store or can shop online, too. Happy decorating!!

Show Your Dogs You’re Thankful for Them with Big Heart Pet Brands

Note: I’ve partnered with Lunchbox and Big Heart Pet Brands to bring you some great ideas for showing your dog how thankful you are for them this holiday season!

Treat The Pups Banner 1

Our two dogs, Sally and Ninja, are an important part of our family. Sally is a three-year-old Lab/Golden Retriever who thinks she’s a lap dog and is incredibly patient with our three kids. Ninja is just 7 months old, and is a Schnauzer/Yorkie mix who is tiny and full of energy, and totally holds his own when playing with Sally.

They’re very different in many ways, but one thing they have in common is a love of treats!

It can be easy to forget to appreciate your furry family members, so that’s why we thought we would create a “Treat Turkey”  to use as a decoration and to serve as a reminder for us to give Ninja & Sally treats. We just used dabs of royal icing to secure treats to the turkey, and each day for a week leading up to Thanksgiving we’re going to give a treat to the dogs and talk about a reason we’re thankful for each of them. Easy and fun! The larger treats are kind of heavy so we will keep this out on a flat surface, but if you use all small treats you could hang it up on your fridge or wall. We got our printable from J’s teacher, but there are lots online as well – just do a search for “turkey printable.”

You can create your own DIY craft projects for your dogs – your kids will have a blast with it, and your dogs will love getting something special. Check out this page from Wal-Mart for all sorts of inspiration! Share how you #TreatThePups on your social media!

Sally will definitely be thankful to get a Milk-Bone! She was practically grinning in the photo below as she waited for me to give her one the other day

Kmart is Halloween Central!

Note: We received costumes to facilitate our review. I was not compensated monetarily for this post. All opinions are honest and are my own.

Can you believe Halloween is in just a few weeks? I’m still slightly in denial that it’s already October (90 degree temps in Texas might contribute to that!) but we have already gotten the kids’ Halloween costumes, so I feel like we’re on top of things. With three kids, finding costumes that fit their interests and are affordable can be a challenge. Thankfully we’ve discovered that Kmart is a perfect one-stop shop for all things Halloween!

J, our 7-year-old, is into all things Pokemon, so it was a no-brainer for him; he decided to be Ash, the Pokemon trainer. He loves his costume; it came with a hat and gloves along with the shirt and pants, and he can’t wait to wear it! He even pulled out some Pokemon toys to complement the look.

C, our 5-year-old, loves Skylanders – the boys just got the new Trap Team game, so it’s especially on his mind right now! He got the Spyro costume – and boy is it a hit with him!

He thinks the hands and feet that come with it make it extra cool, and he loves it with and without the mask.

E, who’s 2, isn’t at the age yet where she requests certain costumes, so I had a lot of fun picking out this absolutely adorable strawberry costume for her.

I’ll plan to get her some green tights or leggings to wear with the costume, but since Halloween in Texas is still a pretty warm time, a sleeveless costume is great. If it does get cool, it’ll be easy to add a shirt underneath. Isn’t it SO cute, though? I love the shape of it, and the minky fabric. E’s favorite part of the whole thing was that it came with “shoes”, but I think the headband is pretty precious too!

No matter what kind of costume you’re looking for, you’re likely to find it at Kmart. They’re home to a broad collection of licensed costumes for kids and adults including top options from SpidermanMonsters HighTransformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. And this year, Kmart is introducing a new line of costumes for girls from Totally Ghoul that offer 3-in-1 styles. For the price of one costume ($29.99) your daughter can have three options perfect for school, a party and trick-or-treating! As someone who loves a good bargain, a 3-in-1 costume is pretty awesome!

For those actually in charge of party planning Kmart also has decorations for both indoor and outdoor to make your house the creepiest on the block. Popular Halloween decor items this year include the Lemax Spooky Town Collection – now 25 percent off (yay, love a good sale!), and new decorations from Totally Ghoul including the Clown Playing Banjo Skeleton.

Don’t wait any longer – get ready for Halloween today! You can shop online at Kmart and have things shipped to you, or you can have things sent to your local Kmart location. And of course you can always do your shopping at your Kmart, too!

Keep up with Kmart on Facebook & Twitter, too!
