Innotab Games Make Learning Fun!

Note: We received copies of the games to facilitate our review. I was not compensated monetarily for this post. All opinions are honest and my own.

We’ve had our Innotab Max for a while now and it is still a big hit with the kids. Their favorite game is a magic beanstalk game – the boys like to play it together, which of course I love – but they were excited to try some new games, too. We got two games to try out:

InnoTab® Learn to Write with Cody & Cora learning cartridge

(Ages 3-6 years; MSRP: $24.99)

  • Go on learning adventures with Cody the Smart Cub™ and Cora the Smart Cub™ in Learn to Write with Cody & Cora for InnoTab. Read the e-Book about an adventure Cody and Cora take while writing and spelling words.
  • Learn and develop handwriting skills in a progressive manner with 11 activities and games.
  • Includes a fun e-Book about an adventure with Cody and Cora

InnoTab® Go! Go! Smart Wheels® Busy Day in Alphabet Town learning cartridge

(Ages 2-5 years; MSRP: $24.99)

  • Explore Alphabet Town with Casey, Paul, Frank and Cyrus in the Go! Go! Smart Wheels Busy Day in Alphabet Town game for InnoTab. Read about their adventure in the e-Book or join the residents of Alphabet Town as they build roads, rescue kittens and more in fun learning games.
  • This InnoTab software title features nine creative activities and learning games that teach letters, numbers and more.

What I love about all of the games we’ve tried on the InnoTab Max is that they’re really appealing to a broad range of ages. I feel good knowing that my 2, 5, & 7 year-olds are enjoying the games now, but I know that they’ll have staying power as the kids, especially our youngest, gets older. You can see in the photo below they were all glued to the game – too engrossed to grin for a picture!

And of course, all the InnoTab games have the wonderful benefit of being educational along with being fun. They’re learning and reinforcing skills in reading, spelling, math, writing, and more – as a parent, I think it’s wonderful!

VTech Innotab Max Review {and Giveaway!}

Note: We received the Innotab Max to review, and VTech is providing one for the giveaway winner too. All opinions are honest and are those of myself and my family.

Our family loves technology, and our kids are always wanting to play on our phones and tablets. We love the idea of them having a tablet dedicated to their use, so I was really excited to receive the VTech InnoTab MAX to review. Here are a few facts:

  • VTech’s 4th generation kids’ learning tablet features its fastest processor yet with up to six times the processing power of previous generation and a 7” high-resolution multi-touch screen display
  • InnoTab MAX features an enhanced 2nd generation version of Premium VTech Kid Connect™, at no additional charge, allowing children and parents to exchange voice and text messages, photos, drawings and fun stickers in real time between the tablet and a smartphone
  • InnoTab MAX offers the best of both learning worlds with access to more than 650 educator-endorsed, age and stage appropriate learning titles as well as carefully cultivated educational Android apps that can be purchased and downloaded through VTech’s Learning Lodge® app store
  • The tablet comes with 15 onboard apps including Premium VTech® Kid Connect, My Magic Beanstalk, Movie Maker, Art Studio, Wonder Cam Max, E-Reader with Story Dictionary and more
  •  InnoTab MAX also comes with one free Toca Boca app and two additional free apps that can be downloaded from the Learning Lodge
  • Other InnoTab MAX features include a built-in rechargeable Lithium battery and kid-safe Wi-Fi so kids can explore appropriate online games, videos and websites that have been pre-selected by VTech
  • Parental controls allow parents to manage their child’s apps, web access and tablet time, as well as view a progress log

As you can see, this is a highly functional tablet with kid-friendly (and parent-friendly) features!

We love that the InnoTab Max comes with a removable cover and that it has a handle built right in! This makes it easy for transporting and helps protect the screen. There’s a stylus included, too, that you can tether to the tablet – no worrying about it getting lost! The cover also serves as a stand, making it easy for kids to prop it up and play.

The InnoTab MAX has a home screen with icons just like my kids are used to from our tablets, and they were easily and intuitively able to navigate their way around, finding the camera, art app, and fun (& educational) games that Brian and I downloaded.

They love the camera feature, and since the lens can rotate around 180 degrees it’s easy for them to take photos of their favorite toys, then flip the lens around for a selfie.

As a parent, I love that we can control what they do and how much time they spend on the tablet; I love that the games have an educational aspect to them, and I love the e-book selection to help foster a love of reading. This is a durable, versatile tablet that I know we’ll be really glad to have; I actually think it won’t be long before our two-year-old, E, lays her claim on the InnoTab MAX!

You can find it on Amazon and at many other retailers; its MSRP is $109.99 – really affordable for a tablet!

Oh, and did I mention that you now have the chance to win one of your very own, just in time for Christmas – this will make someone very happy to find it under the tree!

Our kids love technology. They come by it honestly, since my husband is totally techy. Our whole family loves our gadgets, so when I heard about VTech’s smartwatch for kids I knew it’d be a perfect fit for our boys. The only issue will be the arguing over who gets to wear it!

Our boys think the Kidizoom Smartwatch is awesome. Honestly, I think they’d like it for just the watch alone – they thought all the different faces they could pick from were really cool.  They also especially love taking photos and video, and they were cracking up at the voice changer.

The touch screen and simple navigation make this perfect for kids to get to everything they want to do. We love the Kidizoom smartwatch and will definitely be taking it on our upcoming road trip! It’ll be a great way for the kids to take photos and videos of all the places we visit, and the games will help keep them occupied on the road.

VTech Safe & Sound Audio & (Full Color) Video Monitor

When the boys were newborns, I can remember going in repeatedly to check on them and see how they were doing, and even this third time I have a feeling it’ll be the same way! We didn’t have a video monitor before, but our good friends have one and we saw how useful they can be, so we knew we wanted one for this baby. With two “not-good-at-inside-voices” little boys, I figure this baby will be napping in the other room, so having the video monitor to check on her will be great!

The VTech Safe & Sound monitor provides both audio monitoring and full-color video. It also has an infrared LED view, allowing you to watch your baby at night, too. We tested the night view and were really impressed with how well it worked:

You can also see in the shot that the monitor also tracks the room temperature. I never would’ve thought about wanting this feature, but it’s really nice for being able to make sure the room isn’t too cold or warm. You can even set it to be alerted if the temperature reaches a certain minimum or maximum temp. You can also turn the sound on or off – if it’s off, there’s a vibrate feature to the device to still alert you if your baby cries.

You can also push the “talk” button to soothe your baby remotely. I can imagine using this if you want to offer them comfort without going into the room and waking them up or upsetting them.

The parent unit has a rechargeable battery and lets you know when the battery is getting low. It’s also got a clip to make it easy to stick on your pocket – or you can fold the clip out to use as a stand.

The camera can run on 4 AA batteries, or (as recommended) with the plug. You can also use up to four cameras with this system – a great feature to get different angles of the room or check on more than one child.

The VTech Safe & Sound monitor retails for $129.95. It’s available in many retail stores and on Amazon.com. It’s less expensive than many other monitors on the market, and I love all of the features it offers. We’re excited to have this for keeping an eye (and ear!) on our newest addition once she arrives!

Note: I received the VTech Safe & Sound Audio & Video monitor to facilitate this review. I was not compensated monetarily for this post. All opinions are honest and my own.

VTech V.Reader Review & Giveaway

We’re a pretty tech-friendly family, I’d say – we love our gadgets! So, when VTech sent us the new V.Reader and extra software to review, I think I was almost as excited as J was when it arrived. The V. Reader is a new animated e-reader system for kids aged 3-7 – it’s like a Kindle for kids.

The V.Reader is about the size of a paperback book, and it has a clear cover that can be folded all the way back when not in use.

I like the option of having the cover (especially when it’s small children that’ll be using this!) but also that it can easily be tucked out of the way, held in place with a small magnet. Even when the cover is closed, you’re still able to use the buttons at the bottom to turn pages of the books. There’s also a stylus contained at the bottom of the V.Reader for use on the touch screen – fingers work, too, though! Continue Reading…
