Consignment Finds

I found some bargains last night at a local consignment sale. I consigned a few items, but decided not to use my consignor’s pass to shop early on the first day of the sale. Instead, I waited and went last night to the half-price sale. I have definitely changed since having children. Pre-kids, I would have been first in line to go in the doors, but now I’m in that “mom” rut of not shopping for myself as much. Shopping for the kiddos is much more appealing!

Anyway, back to half-price night – stock had definitely dwindled from how much there was when I dropped off my items to sell, but there was still a decent amount to look through. I wound up spending a whopping $14.08 (including tax) and got four things:

White button-up shirt from Old Navy – $4.00. I have to admit I already own a red printed shirt in this same exact style. I love it, though!

Pink striped sweater with 3/4 length sleeves – $3.50. I honestly just like this, I don’t love it, but I know I’ll get a lot of good use out of it for work.

Silver earrings – $2.50. I love how simple they are. I’ll wear these a lot, I’m sure!

Brown leather bracelet from Fossil – $3.00. I’m a sucker for bracelets, and wear them all the time.

Not too shabby, especially considering that my red printed shirt I mentioned cost $9.99 when I bought it on clearance at Old Navy. It was nice, too, to go shopping with the sole intention of finding something for myself.

As moms, we’re so often in the mode of thinking about our kids – which is great, and how we should be, but I think it’s important to find little ways to treat yourself, too,  no matter what size budget you’re working with. Whether that means finding time to go on a walk and have some quiet time, grabbing a large sweet tea to take with you while you run errands (I do this sometimes), or going to get a pedicure with a friend, little things like this help remind us that we’re not just moms. What do you do to treat yourself?
