Edited to add 5/7: We have a winner!
Congratulations, Natalie! If you’ll email me your address I’ll pass it on to Melinda so she can send you your Savvycents wallet. Thanks to everyone who entered… I’ll be having another giveaway on Tuesday so be sure and pop back in to enter that!
I’ve read several financial books in trying to figure out the budgeting system that would work best for our family, and one of the books I liked best suggested using an envelope system to keep track of cash for spending in various categories. Many of you probably know which book I’m talking about.
Melinda at Savvycents read one of these books and tried the envelope system herself, but quickly became frustrated with the envelopes and disorganization. She created a wallet to allow her to keep her cash in separate categories and also give quick access to everything else she needed.
I received one of the Savvycents wallets to review last week. The one I received is black patent leather. It’s a good size – 8″ x 4″ – large enough to hold a lot, but small enough to fit well in my purse.
This wallet has a place for everything. There’s a zippered spot for coins on the outside:
And everything else is contained neatly inside:
The aspect that makes this wallet unique is the accordion file system built right in. In the photo above you can see the tabs for the different sections of the file. The wallet comes with pre-printed labels for categories like Grocery, Restaurants, & Gas, and also comes with blank labels for writing your own categories if you’d prefer. I chose to use these labels for my wallet: Grocery, Restaurants, Entertainment, Personal (“fun” money), and Gas. Each section of the file has two parts to it, so I’ll probably keep cash in one part and use the other for receipts if I ever use my debit card for a purchase instead. If you’re not following the “envelope” system for budgeting your money, this file system would be great to use just for coupons. Then you’d always have them with you when you’re shopping and wouldn’t have to rifle through a huge stack to find what you’re looking for.
One the other side of the wallet there’s also room for six cards – perfect for debit card and discount cards. Behind those six pockets there’s a large pocket that I’m using to store coupons. On the other side of the wallet there are two more spots with windows – I’m using one for my driver’s license & the other for my work ID.
The best part of all of this? One of you will get this wallet (valued at $24.95) free! This is my 50th post (woohoo!) and I had been wanting to do a giveaway to celebrate. Then Melinda graciously offered to provide one of her wallets for a giveaway, and I thought this was a perfect time for it. Want to win a Savvycents wallet? Here’s how:
This giveaway for a black patent leather Savvycents wallet will run until Thursday, May 6 at midnight CST; the winner will be posted and notified via email Friday, May 7.
