I’ve mentioned before how much Brian and I like Asian food, I’m sure, and that there aren’t really any great restaurants in town so we usually have to make it at home to get what we like. Well, when MyBlogSpark offered me the opportunity to try the new Wanchai Ferry Beef & Broccoli frozen meal, I thought it was a great chance to find another Asian meal option we could have at home.

The package says it’s a complete meal for two – it provides a package of Jasmine rice to steam in the microwave, a pouch of sauce, and then of course the main portion of the meal – beef strips, broccoli florets, red peppers, and water chestnuts. The total prep time for this meal was only about 10 minutes, which was really nice. I also only used one skillet to prepare the meal, so that made cleanup great too.

Like I mentioned, the rice steams in the microwave for about two minutes, so all I really had to do was put the beef and veggies in a skillet with 1/3 cup of water, cover, and let it cook for about 7 minutes. After that I added the sauce and let it cook for another 2-3 minutes, and here’s the end result:

I was really impressed before even tasting it. The sauce smelled great, and it didn’t look like a frozen meal. The rice steamed really well in the microwave, which I was a little worried about, having tried other microwaveable rice before. This rice was fluffy and didn’t clump together at all. If I didn’t know it, I would never have guessed it hadn’t been steamed on the stovetop. I put it in our favorite rice bowls to serve:

Wanchai Ferry also provided us with green tea and tea cups, so we had that with our dinner. I thought the cups with our bowls made a nice, minimalist table setting – and made Brian let me take a photo of him to show you.

Overall we thought this meal was really good. The only thing we would change would be for more rice included with the meal. When we make this again we might make some extra rice on the side.Like I mentioned, we didn’t think it tasted like a frozen meal at all. I’d actually never had beef & broccoli before, but Brian said the flavor of the sauce was spot on, and the quality of beef was great. If you want to try it for yourself, click here to print a coupon for $1.60 off. I’m planning to buy a few of the Wanchai Ferry meals to stock up in our freezer for nights when we’re busy – it’ll be nice to have something quick and easy to make.

I have to take a minute to show you the tea sets. Aren’t they pretty? Each one came with a tea cup, infuser, and a tin of green tea.

The tea itself is even pretty, and has a nice floral note to its scent:

Ok, now here’s the really cool part –  a giveaway so you can try a meal for yourself and receive two of those pretty tea sets too!
