Today’s Challenge: Something that bugs you

It’s not often that I get a chance to climb up on my soapbox and complain, so I guess I’ll have to just enjoy this excuse for it. Here are a few of the things that really bug me:

• Tailgating in traffic. Anyone else hate this as much as I do? I do NOT understand the purpose of it, because usually the tailgating happens when I have no way of going any faster anyway. And can I admit that when someone tailgates me it just makes me want to slow down? Yeah, I’m mature like that.

• Entitlement. Brian and I have the conversation every once in a while about how we do not understand the entitled attitudes some people have. That sense of just deserving things drives me nuts, along with the attitude of not wanting to work for something. Our children will suffer benefit from our stance on this throughout their lives, I’m sure, but hopefully we’ll instill a work ethic and a sense of appreciation in them along the way.

• Clutter. I love to be organized and would be a very happy person if my home were always neat and tidy. As anyone with kids knows, though, that’s a virtual impossibility. I’ve learned to live with a little more clutter (and have even grown to embrace some of the kid-related mess, because the mess makers are just that adorable) but there are still times when it just gets to be too much for me and I go on a cleaning extravaganza.

• Telemarketers. I always try to be nice to these people when they call, because I know everyone’s got to work and they’re just doing their job, but I get so tired of sales pitches – especially when they don’t let you fit a word in edgewise to tell them that you need to go, because you’re making dinner for your children who are whining about being hungry and needing food right. this. instant.

So, do any of the things on my list resonate? What bugs you?

The sense of entitlement really bothers me too. I see in young adults especially, and employees seem to not really even care about working hard anymore. It’s as if they feel they shouldn’t have to do it.

PS. I get a lot of hang time on your blog and it usually freezes my browser for a while while it loads. Has anyone else had the problem or is it just me? I was wondering if your tool bar or anything was causing an issue.

Eek! Thanks for letting me know. I will check into it and see what’s up. If anyone else notices a lag please let me know!

    I hate tailgaters!

i’m being eaten by clutter at my house. i can’t wait for some nice weather so i can open the windows, throw the kids out side and do some serious purging

Gotta love spring cleaning! Maybe that’s why it’s traditionally in the spring – so moms can put their kids outside to play and work with less distractions!

OKay – all of those things bug me too! Especially the entitlement one! Another thing that bugs me is people who answer their cell phones in a restaurant or store, and then proceed to have a conversation so loudly that everyone can hear them.

    • Christi March 21, 2011 at 11:54 pm

Oooh, that’s one of mine too Tammy!

  • Brenda K March 22, 2011 at 10:09 am

In my previous life (before marriage and a child) my job entailed me to be on the phone a lot with clients. The one thing that made my skin crawl and still does is people eating while I am on the phone with them. The sound of chewing and swallowing and lip smacking. UGH!! I used to have to put the eaters on hold because I feared I would shout out, “For the love of all things precious, stop eating in my ear!!”

    • Christi March 22, 2011 at 10:44 am

Ughhhh that would bother me too – who does that? I don’t even eat while on the phone with family or friends!

  • Annie @ Mama Dweeb March 22, 2011 at 11:30 am

When I first saw the title and the picture together I thought, “My husband’s dirty boots around the house bugs me too!” LOL!!!

Telemarketers, YES. Go away! Do they really make sales? I think not

    • Christi March 22, 2011 at 6:08 pm

I know, right? You’d think the success rate would be low enough that telemarketing would die off. We can only hope!
