Since April 22 is Earth Day, I’m planning to share tips, projects and other info with you throughout the month. I’ve already shared an activity idea to do with your kids – check out my guest post over at The Life of Rylie to get details, or click here to download a free printable!
Today Philips has shared some tips on how to go green.
Did you know you can start going green with your television? Not only sleek and stylish, the new LEDs use less power and eliminate the use of mercury in the backlighting, making them the right choice for the eco-conscious TV fan.
The team at Philips offers these tips on ways to be help Earth Day with your TV experience:
- Turn on the power-saver mode to cut down on power consumption.
- Control room lighting by dimming the lights. And consider blackout shades that not only set the TV mood, but offer thermal benefits like keeping heat in during the winter.
- Watch TV together, and shut off televisions not in use.
- Don’t forget to properly recycle your old model by donating, repurposing or recycling your old TV. Explore www.recycle.philips.com or other associations such Earth 911 for recycle options.
Great tips, thanks :)
It drives me bonkers when people don’t turn off the tv when not in use.
Planning your TV viewing in advance can reduce screen time and save energy.

Recycling and repurposing is a good way to reduce our carbon footprint not only for TVs or electronic devices but also on other products like paper, plastics and even wood from old and abandoned house. Recycling not only reduces our carbon footprint but also lessens our consumption of our natural resources.
