I’m glad I’m typing this and not having to speak right now, because I don’t think you’d be able to hear me very well – I’m hoarse! There are all sorts of wildfires going on around Texas right now (so scary! We’re praying for everyone in danger’s way) and although there aren’t fires in our vicinity, the smell of fire is persistent, soot is in the air, and the sky looks a little off. My allergies don’t take well to soot, apparently, and I’ve been sneezing and congested ever since Thursday morning.
Despite my allergies (and thanks to modern medicine) we managed to pull of a fun 2nd birthday party for C. He had a blast (so did J)! They both crashed afterwards and took a nap (so did I)! I’ll do a post later this week showing you all the decor and food, but here’s a little preview of one of the party treats:
Can’t wait to write the post about it – I think party planning is SO much fun, especially for children! We did a Cat in the Hat theme – here are the invitations again, in case you missed them the first time around:
Anyway, we’re still kind of recovering from the party – today after church was spent resting and catching up on some blogging; I have to admit that the dining table is still covered with leftover party supplies, and the living room is cluttered with new toys. Our friends & family were so generous and the boys have had a lot of fun playing with Colin’s presents. So far the sharing is going well! We keep reminding J that he’ll have to return the favor & share with C when his birthday is here.
Meals are a little, um, unplanned this week, but I’ve tried to at least put some semblance of a schedule together. We didn’t go shopping yesterday or today and I’ll probably put that off until Tuesday!
Monday: I’m going to my brother’s percussion concert so we’re going to eat an early dinner of leftover pizza from the birthday party. Fahhhhncy, right?
Tuesday: Chick-Fil-A (I think). We’re going to grab an early dinner and then I’m going with a friend to do paint your own pottery while her husband and Brian play Rock Band. It’s a win-win for me – I get to go have fun with my friend, and it buys me a little time before I have to play Rock Band again (I kid, Brian, I kid. You know how much I love playing. Even though I’m perpetually stuck on medium because that little orange button is too intimidating).
Wednesday: Burritos, because we never ended up having them last week!
Thursday: Lemon pepper chicken with veggies & brown rice
Friday: Soup & paninis
Saturday: Hopefully grilling out fajitas! We’ve got to replace our grill plates first, so I guess we’ll be making a trip to Lowe’s this weekend.
Before I end this post, I wanted to take a minute to write about something I’m really excited about – great giveaways! Mother’s Day will be here before you know it, and I’m celebrating in full force with a giveaway every single day this week! I have one Mom’s Day giveaway already up, for a Vera Bradley purse. Check back later today for a giveaway to ProFlowers.com, and then each day this week for other items you’ll have the chance to win!
Cat in the Hat is one of the first books I remember reading! How fun! And I love paninis.
