I had the best night Friday! J and I got to go do mother/son bowling, sponsored through our church. We had a great time and I know Brian and C got some bonding time in too.
See those monster trucks he’s holding? We went to the arcade after bowling, and happened upon a machine that gave out tickets like crazy. Can I admit that I totally felt giddy like I was 10 again? We ended up with over 700 tickets, and J used them to get a truck for him and one for C.
We’ve decided to make this a regular thing, maybe once a month – we’ll pick a night and each of us will take one of the boys to do something one-on-one, letting them pick (within reason, ha) what we go do. Then the next time we’ll swap who goes with which of the boys. We love our family outings but I think it’ll be fun to let the boys have some individual time with us too.
Menu time!
Monday: Did I tell you my brother almost always comes over on Monday nights to eat with us (and do laundry – he is a college student, after all)? Last week he braved some new pizza recipes with us, but this week I’m going to cook a meal I know he likes a lot – Crunchy Chicken Crescents. <– The recipe is posted here if you’d like to try it too! We only make this a couple of times a year – it’s kind of a special treat. I wish I could give you a sample right now, but you’ll just have to take my word for it or try it yourself. :) If you do make them, let me know what you think!
Tuesday: Chick Fil A! We went and had breakfast there Saturday before going out to run errands, and I got a coupon on my receipt for a free sandwich, so that’ll make dinner even cheaper – nice!
Wednesday: Lunch for dinner. This, people, is my cop out meal plan. I couldn’t think of another good idea, and something simple in the middle of the week sounded like a good idea. We’ll do sandwiches, chips, and fruit. Maybe we’ll turn it into a picnic if the weather cooperates.
Thursday: Beef stew – I didn’t end up making it last week, so we’ll have this slow-cooker meal this week.
Friday: Leftover stew. Exciting finish to the week, I know!
Saturday: Breakfast for dinner! We’ll do omelets and we’re going to try making waffles. Our panini press also has a waffle plate that we’ve never used, so we’ll see how it goes.
While you’re here I hope you’ll enter some of my giveaways! My personal favorite is a FREE custom design for birthday invitations, envelopes, and thank you cards (maybe since I’m the one offering that up, ha). They’re all listed over in my sidebar if you want to take a second to check them out.
Have a GREAT week, everyone!

I nearly added a slow cooker beef stew to my meal plan this week . . . I nearly want to go back and put it there. . . . can’t stop thinking about it!
There’s just something so homey and comforting about stew, isn’t there?
You have a great week too!
I love breakfast for dinner but my husband hates it – I’ll definitely be working on him now though!
I make something kind of like the chicken crescents and we love them here too.
Christi, I made your Chicken Crescents tonight and they were a HIT! It made enough for us to have leftovers and I took a few to our neighbor. Great recipe! Thank you for sharing it… I might post it on my blog soon, if that’s okay.
I’m glad you like them! The leftovers are one of my favorite parts about the recipe – they reheat really well. Totally fine for you to share the recipe on your blog!
