Well, really just C is sick – we’re hoping the rest of us don’t catch it too! He woke up in the middle of the night Wednesday night/Thursday morning crying, but I figured he just had a bad dream so I brought him to bed with us. Thursday morning when we woke up he felt really warm, so I took his temp and it was running around 100.6. Then…
he threw up. If you know me from childhood you know I have a big gag reflex. Like, HUGE. If anyone in the vicinity even seemed like they were about to get sick, I was outta there, because I knew if I heard it I’d be throwing up too.
It’s so funny how parenthood changes you. C threw up, and my first impulse was to stick out my hand and catch it so it didn’t go all over him. He threw up many more times yesterday, and each time worry for him wiped out any other reaction to it.
We learned a lesson with all of this, too… stomach bug + red Gatorade = bad idea. We were worried about him getting dehydrated and Gatorade seemed like a good idea… not so much! Let’s just say a lot of laundry got done yesterday.
Last night was a rough night – he wasn’t throwing up, but he woke up a ton during the night, so neither of us got much sleep. He is on the mend now, though. Crackers, some of his favorite PBS shows, and blue Gatorade are making him a happy little guy.
I guess this is just the time of year where everyone gets sick – notes have been sent out at the boys’ day care about different things going around. Has your family managed to avoid getting sick so far this year?
My husband had it Mother’s day and now my son has it. I’m hoping I’ve avoided it because there’s just so much to do!
Hope you’re able to avoid it too! It’s rough on everyone when Mom gets sick!
Poor baby!! He looks so sad!! :( I hope he is better soon!
Thanks! He seems to be feeling better today thankfully! I will say, he was SO snuggly and I really enjoyed that, though! :)
Awww, I hope he feels better soon! It always stinks when one person in the house is sick because then everyone else hopes they don’t get it!
Thanks Nicole! I know exactly what you mean. We go around disinfecting and doing laundry like crazy trying to contain the germs!
Grandma is so sorry he was sick!!! :(
But I’m glad he’s feeling a lot better!!! :)
Thanks! :) He is MUCH better today. He was so sad the past two mornings to not get milk, so it was really exciting for him this morning that he got some with breakfast! It’s the little things in life! :)
Poor baby! He just looks so pitiful in that picture. :-( I’m glad he is on the mend now.
We haven’t had a stomach bug in this house for a while. ::knock on wood:: Rylie’s only last a few hours, but Bryce’s always last like a week. No lie. And he ALWAYS pukes on me. The poor kid spent a lot of his first year of life sick, so I’m hoping his immune system is super strong now and that is why he isn’t getting sick.
I hope he is back to 100% and you guys have a great weekend!
Thanks LeeAnn! Yeah, I think there’s some unwritten rule that moms must be puked on during the course of a child’s illness. :) Glad y’all have managed to avoid getting sick recently – hope it continues that way!
[…] you saw my post from a couple of days ago, you know C was sick. By Friday night he seemed back to normal, and we […]
:-( I hope he’s feeling better real soon. It is soooo horrid when our babies are sick. Ah, just saw your update that he’s better… good!
