Our family is still a relatively young family – our oldest son, J, is 7. C is 5, and E is 2. We’re loving this stage of life, but we’re also realizing that while they’re young it’s pretty crucial to set a good foundation for them in a variety of aspects of life! We want them to have manners, to share, to be thoughtful of others. And we want to teach them now how important it is to take good care of themselves, so that they develop good habits now that they continue as they get older.

Oral health is one of those areas that we really want to instill the importance of in our kids, and we work on making sure that it’s a standard part of their evening and morning routines. We buy fun toothbrushes for the kids – I think it’s worth splurging on to get them excited about brushing – and we make up little songs to sing to help pass the time.

But even beyond brushing we know it’s important to teach them about flossing, so we’re really excited to have the LISTERINE floss for them (and us) to use! The Gentle Gum Care floss is great for little mouths. It’s soft and springy, but still really effective at removing plaque from along the gum line. And I love the LISTERINE ULTRACLEAN EASY ACCESS Flosser for myself, because it can be difficult getting floss between those back teeth!

We’re also really glad to have LISTERINE SMART RINSE for the kids to use. Brian and I both use LISTERINE mouth wash, but it’s great to have for the kids too because you know they’re not going to always do the greatest job of brushing. The SMART RINSE helps get to all the areas of the teeth and gums, and the boys think the superhero graphic on the front is pretty awesome.

LISTERINE POCKETPAKS are another product I love for our family’s oral health. They’re not just breath fresheners, friends. They actually kill 99% of germs! They’re easy to keep in my purse for whenever we’re out and about.

How do you teach good oral health to your kids? Have you started them flossing and using mouth wash yet? If you haven’t yet, I urge you to start great oral health habits now – be a healthy habit hero! We are a listerine family, too. We love the smart rinse.

  • Amanda October 7, 2014 at 12:55 pm

Healthy habits start at a young age and the smart rinse is a must have! Love that it has 12 hour fighting germs!

  • Ben @ Sweeptight October 7, 2014 at 1:44 pm

I swear by Listerine, so I’m eager to give these new products a try. They look great.

  • Courtney October 7, 2014 at 1:56 pm

I’m going to get this Smart Rinse for my daughter. It’s great for her teeth, and she’s all about The Avengers.

  • Dawn October 7, 2014 at 2:10 pm

I’m going to have to get the Easy Access flosser. I have a TERRIBLE time flossing my back teeth. Seriously, who can open their mouth that wide?

  • Kerri (TheMaven) October 7, 2014 at 4:05 pm

Confession: I use the Smart Rinse for me when I need a quick freshen up. Don’t tell anyone!

  • AImee Smith October 7, 2014 at 5:50 pm

We are a Listerine family! I love their rinse and their flossers, I hate flossing but these make it easy!

  • Dominique October 7, 2014 at 6:00 pm

My kids are still in the toddler toothpaste phase, but I use Listerine and can’t wait until they are old enough to try this!

  • Amy D October 7, 2014 at 6:02 pm

Yes, good dental habits start young! Nothing worse than having poor dental health at a young age!

  • Stefany October 7, 2014 at 7:15 pm

I use Listerine daily. I need to get some for my kids though and get them started on it.

  • Ann Bacciaglia October 7, 2014 at 7:38 pm

We have always used Listerine products. I love all the great flavors it is available in.

  • Shauna October 7, 2014 at 8:00 pm

I always tried but to tell you the truth the dentist is who really ‘got’ to my kids. They showed the kids these really nasty teeth and now the kids are all about brushing. LOL

It is good to start the healthy habits young. It is currently a daily argument with my 7 year old to get him to brush his teeth more than once a day.

  • Mama to 5 BLessings October 7, 2014 at 8:37 pm

My son loves Smart Rinse – he is so good about using it too. Listerine has great products.

  • Jennifer Williams October 7, 2014 at 8:45 pm

I am a big fan of Listerine and yet did not know they had floss. I hope they have floss for kids that is not the plastic pick type style. I am having a horrible time finding plain floss for my youngest and he hates those plastic things.

  • Janel October 7, 2014 at 9:51 pm

Your kids are right in line with my kids ages! We have a just turned 8, 6 (4) and 2 year old!

  • Marina @ Mommy Snippets October 7, 2014 at 9:56 pm

I never realized Listerine had such a wide range of products. We’ll have to grab a bottle for the kiddos.

  • Tammi @ My Organized Chaos October 8, 2014 at 7:31 am

My kids don’t always remember to floss {neither do I} but they love the Smart Rinse!

  • April October 8, 2014 at 10:13 am

I need to start using this again. It works great. :)
