We, just like many of you, think of our dogs as part of our family.
Sally, our 80-pound lab/golden retriever mix, is 4 years old. She is gentle and sweet, and loves to put her paw in one of our hands to have us hold it.
Ninja is about 12 pounds, and he’s a schnauzer/yorkie mix. He just turned 1 in April and he is still full of puppy energy. He’s finally turned a corner with his chewing habit and he follows us everywhere.
Both of our dogs have their own distinct personalities, and if you saw them separately you’d never guess these two were best buds. They play together like crazy, and Ninja really holds his own. I guess there’s something to be said for being small and able to dart around quickly!
Our dogs also adore our kids. I think our kids are pretty great, but I could see how dogs might want to avoid them. They’re loud and all over the place. Sally and Ninja want to be right up in the middle of it all, and the kids think our dogs are just the greatest.
Since our dogs are such an important part of our family, we like to find ways to treat them – Sally’s favorite is to lay up in our bed; Ninja just needs dog treats to be a happy camper.
This week is National Dog Week, so we’re even more aware of ways to celebrate our furry family members! Beneful took a survey recently to see what the top activities are that make dogs happy (per their owners).
As you can see, 90% of respondents selected mealtime as something that brings joy to their dogs. I’ll agree with that, for sure!
To help celebrate National Dog Week – and to support dogs’ love of meals – Beneful has released a great coupon for $3 off a 13-lb. or larger bag of Beneful dry dog food, which you can snag by clicking here.
Be sure and check back throughout the week – I’ll be posting more dog-related content, and will even have a giveaway you won’t want to miss!
And again, Happy National Dog Week – go give your pup a hug!
I will say that I am a cat person but my hubs loves dogs even has his favorite breed (boxer) tatted on him. We dog sitted the other day and my kids went crazy lol. I think we may have to look into getting one soon.
What lovely dogs and I love they have a week so they can bring attention to dogs and the care they deserve. We don’t have any dogs as pets at the moment but we really loved the ones that use to be a part of our family. Dogs really add to the family environment.
I had no idea that it was national dog week! I love how much our dog has become a member of the family over the years. Your dogs are adorable they look so happy in the photos.
Every week seems to be dog week around my house! We’ve got a 5 year old yorkie that we love to pieces and he gives us tons of love back. He’s definitely become a member of our family and our life wouldn’t be complete without him.
I love themed days, weeks, and months because that means there are always reasons to celebrate! I personally never had a dog growing up although I wanted one. These days, I have fun playing with my friends dogs, and if I see any of them this week, I will make sure to give them some extra love!
What lovely dogs. It was only recently that I knew about this, so I bought extra treats for my fur babies. It’s nice that they have a full week to be pampered. I just wish that pet parents won’t do this just for a week.
WHat happy healthy pups! I love my dogs and am so glad to celebrate dog week! Actually, they are so spoiled, I think its dog year.
My dogs love to eat. My chihuahua acts like she is aways hungry. She thinks she needs as much food as our much bigger boxer, who tries to knock the back door down when he hears us in the kitchen.
Yeah for National Dog week! I am a dog lover and your pouches are so cute! I have a golden and she is adorable too! We love to celebrate dogs and pamper them!
