We received a knife set and block to facilitate our review. All opinions are honest and are our own.
We love to cook, and anyone can tell you that having a good knife set is one of the most important things when it comes to tools. We have some knives, but I’ve been wanting to expand our arsenal and was excited to discover this knife set from Hampton Forge.
The set comes with 14 pieces including the knife block. You also get an 8″ chef knife, 8″ bread knife, 5.5″ Santoku knife, 5″ utility serrated knife, six 4.5″ steak knives, 3.5″ paring knife, kitchen shears, and sharpening steel.
I love the variety provided in this set. For us personally we don’t use steak knives as often, but all the others will be ones we will use regularly – and it’s nice to have an attractive set of steak knives for when you’re entertaining.
The red handles are what really make this set stand out aesthetically. They’re shiny and beautiful, and make a statement on your kitchen counter. You’ll want to hand-wash these to preserve the quality of the red finish; I like to hand-wash my knives anyway so this doesn’t bother me, but it’s something to be noted.
We’ve been using the knives for a few weeks now and I’ve been impressed with how well they cut through everything from meat to nuts to veggies. The smaller Santoku knife is probably my favorite, and the one we use the most. We’ve been washing them by hand and drying them right afterward, and haven’t noticed any water spots or rust – and the red finish is still flawless. This would make a great Christmas gift for newlyweds or amateur foodies; pros may be a little pickier about which knives are included in their sets, but this is an ideal mix for the average home cook.
